Over the past 2 years, Governor’s and Mayor’s Challenge Teams have been taking this effort to participating states and local communities, each forming a unique team of representatives and creating plans to implement policy and improve the lives of service members, Veterans and their families. The teams attended a Safe Messaging Conference in July and committed to taking action in several ways, including:
- Emphasizing messages of hope and recovery
- Changing the way we talk about suicide
- Applying safe messaging best practices on social media communications
