The Department of Veterans Affairs is alerting veterans about a recent scam involving fake VA appointment letters and demands for payment before the visit.

Please remember and reinforce with Veterans:

  • Veterans should never pay for any VA or Community Care appointment before or at time of the appointment.
  • VA does not send upfront fees for appointments.
  • VA does not send payment requests by email, text message, or phone

If a Veteran receives a suspicious letter, call or message, encourage them to report it to: Office of Integrity and Compliance Helpline: 866-842-4357 or VHAOICHelpline@va/gov.
