Veterans are frequently encouraged to use the internet for a host of tools, whether it be keeping up with friends, accessing benefits or shopping for things they need. Unfortunately, scammers are taking advantage and specifically going after those who have served. Veterans are twice as likely to lose money to fraud because of identity theft, phishing, imposter scams and investment, loan or donation deceptions. Veterans can take simple actions to better protect their information such as:

*use unique passwords for online accounts

*use multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Veterans can also find additional information on protecting their identity and what VA is doing to help by visiting the More Than a Number website.
