The Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Veteran Chartbook highlights the Veterans Health Administration’s first look at the primary health care experiences of lesbian, gay, and bisexual Veterans by leveraging the Survey of Healthcare Experiences (SHEP) from fiscal year 2020. With the inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity questions in this version of SHEP, the report showcases many disparities between LGB and Heterosexual Veterans for access, patient-centered care, and continuity of care.

Equitable access to high-quality care for all Veterans is a major tenet of the VA healthcare mission. The VHA Office of Health Equity champions the elimination of health disparities and achieving health equity for all Veterans.
