When the country was roughly one month into the coronavirus pandemic in April, the jobless rate for all Veterans jumped to nearly 12%, up from 4% the previous month, according to the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University. The rate was even higher for the oldest Veterans from the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War eras. The pandemic has been equally hard on the nation’s 21.2 million Veteran-owned small businesses, which continue to struggle.
