There are more than 2.3 million Black and African American Veterans in the U.S. and more than 350,000 Black and African American Active Duty and Selected Reserve members. According to Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans & Military Families, 59% of Black and African American Veterans characterize their employment transition as difficult or very difficult. The non-profit Patriots Path has career coaching and job search training programs that are great resources for Veterans and their spouses as they transition from military service to civilian careers.
