VRx Solutions is a North Carolina Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that now offers a Rapid Response Mental Healthcare capability by utilizing advanced Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technology. The service is available for anyone and from anywhere there is internet connectivity on a 24/7/365 basis.

The world is experiencing a mental healthcare crisis, and professional resources continue to become overwhelmed. Utilizing recent advancements in immersive technology, VRx has designed and implemented a feasible solution that can be fielded now to cover this gap, said Gordon Dodson, VRx Solutions Founder and CEO. Our solution addresses the following existing challenges:

  • Urgency: VRx provides immediate care when needed, not an appointment for next week or month.
  • Availability: Licensed therapists are readily available to treat those who need immediate care.
  • Location: The VRx solution is not bound by borders, our service extends everywhere there’s internet connectivity.
  • Cost: Individual insurance information is automatically applied for those who register for services.
  • Duration: VRx provides post rehabilitation treatment programs that are almost non-existent today.
VHIB is a Veterans Administration (VA) benefit however there remains multiple challenges for disabled Veterans to receive this benefit even though their “Battle Buddy” has an official accreditation. This is a simple matter of educating the right staff and approval authorities, states Gordon Dodson, Founder and CEO of VRx Solutions and a recent graduate from the K9s for Warriors Battle Buddy program.  Technically a service dog is a “Mental Health Prosthetic Device” and approval for insurance is processed through the VA Central Office and then routed through the National Prosthetics Office, a unique and unfamiliar process for everyone involved.  Unfortunately, this particular VHIB policy will not apply to every disabled Veteran who has a service dog but should for the mass majority as anxiety is one of the key associated factors.
VRx Solutions is working directly with the Kernersville VA to bring this challenge to the forefront so a non-complicated process can be implemented across the state. The last thing a Veteran with a mental health challenge needs is to be confronted with more challenges. The intent is to validate the process with the local Kernersville VA and then implement throughout the state through a targeted program to educate all those involved, to include the Veteran.
In additoin to highlighting this policy to help disabled Veterans here in North Carolina, VRx Solutions will be demonstrating their Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) rapid response suicide prevention capability during January’s NCGWG quarterly meeting.  We want to show leadership how effective an immersive rapid response mental healthcare platform is. Ask any EMS technician if they could use a licensed counselor in a box when arriving at most any crisis situation, states Gordon, the sooner professional intervention then the better the recovery experience.
