When the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) expired on May 11, 2023, some of VA’s pandemic-related authorities expired as well. VA has been preparing for this moment for months, working to make this transition as seamless as possible for Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors. VA is also working with its partners in the Administration and in Congress to extend or reinstate many of these authorities when possible.
