Many older Veterans experience PTSD symptoms dozens of years or more after their military experience. Changes that come with aging can make them feel more vulnerable and this can make PTSD symptoms more noticeable. It’s also true that some Veterans find strategies that once seemed to help them avoid thinking about the trauma can be more difficult to maintain as one gets older.
