During a ‘State of the VA’ speech to the National Press Club in Washington, DC on February 5, 2020, VA Secretary Robert Wilkie said Veterans will continue to see improvements in VA services including increased innovation, decreased wait times for appointments and better overall care. Secretary Wilkie highlighted several of the programs designed to provide better care along with the VA hospital in Palo Alto, California becoming the first 5G enabled health facility in the world. “That means we will have the capacity to allow VA’s best physicians to consult during surgery even if they’re not in the same room and are halfway across the country,” said Wilkie. The secretary also pointed to a VA partnership to help Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and pain management.
