In September, public broadcasting stations aired the 10-part series, The Vietnam War, by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. (This series will be repeated later this month.) As a companion to this series, UNC-TV aired the Vietnam: Learning, Healing, Counseling program on September 29.
The show featured clips of Vietnam Veterans who talked about some of the challenges that they still confront decades later. Representatives from the VA, Vet Centers, and NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs informed viewers of how and where to find help and what families need to know to assist their loved ones. Veterans were encouraged to learn about their eligibility to VA benefits.
