Winston-Salem Regional Office to Host VEAC @ Elk's Lodge

The Winston-Salem Regional Office of the Veterans Benefits Administration will host a Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) at the Elk’s Lodge, 5102 Oleander Drive, Wilmington 28403.  Participants will have the option to attend on April 25-26 from 9:00a to 3:00p and on April 27 from 9:00a to 2:00p.  VA representatives and Veterans Service Officers will be available to assist in:

  • Face-to-face explanation and assistance facilitating and expediting existing claims and appeals
  • Filing new claims
  • Providing information regarding benefit-related VA programs: VRE, education, home loans, insurance, education and burial benefits
  • Counseling for bereavement, military sexual trauma, substance abuse and mental health screening
  • Information about eligibility for Healthcare

Veterans will be assisted in order of arrival.

Aging Veteran: What Do You Need To Know Planning for the Future @ Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

On April 27, from 8:30am to 1:00pm, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the North Carolina State Council, the Buncombe County Veterans Council, and the Charles George VAMC are collaborating to host a townhall meeting to address the Aging Veteran: What Do You Need To Know Planning for the Future.  Presentations will address healthcare, survivors’ benefit programs, burial, and wills.  This event will be held at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Asheville Campus, Ferguson Auditorium, 19 Tech Drive (off Victoria Road), Asheville, NC 28801.  Registration begins at 8:30, with the formal program starting at 9:30am.  Pastries, coffee, juice, and water will be served.  For more information, contact thomas.whetstine@yahoo.com.
